Glan-Y-Mor was founded as a comprehensive in 1977 and the school draws most of its pupils from the local area. Each department has its own specialist teaching area and other facilities include a brand new teaching block for English, two ICT rooms, a creative arts room, gym, squash and tennis courts. Pupils regularly stage dramatic and musical productions. Ski trips, cultural visits and foreign exchanges are held throughout the year and pupils are also encouraged to perform some kind of community service during their time at school. Pupils have represented their region and country in a range of sporting activities. There is a thriving Christian Union, a large annual Eisteddfod and pupils take part in annual business competitions. 'This school is a caring community, where all concerned work together to create an atmosphere where pupils are valued as individual. The vast majority of pupils are friendly, helpful and respectful to others'.
